Bio

I am a computational and translational scientist with 15+ years of experience spanning cognitive neuroscience, systems biology, and observational, experimental, longitudinal, as well as preclinical and clinical research. My trajectory from behavioral science & psychometric assessment to neurophysiology to molecular genetics to multi-omics integration provides a unique perspective on biological complexity: from behavioral phenotypes to molecular mechanisms.

Current Focus

My work centers on identifying and translating multi-omic signatures into therapeutic insights, with particular expertise in neurodegenerative diseases including ALS, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. At the Institute for Systems Biology, I led industry-facing projects from study design to computational analyses for clinical trials (e.g., anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies, and metabolic activators) as well as observational multi-omic studies.

I now provide translational science consulting to biotechnology companies seeking to accelerate therapeutic development. Having operated at the academia-industry interface throughout my career, I understand the distinct requirements of exploratory R&D vs regulatory-grade research and reporting.

I specialize in: study design; integrating proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and genomics data using advanced computational frameworks; neuroimaging; machine learning; due diligence; product development; and technical as well as translational writing.

Recent projects include identifying proteomic signatures of treatment response in multiple sclerosis; developing computational pipelines for longitudinal multi-omic analysis; designing biomarker validation strategies for early-stage clinical trials; contributing to the fund-raising and regulatory strategy of emerging biotech; and completing two preclinical studies in a SOD1 murine model of ALS.

Work with Me

My consulting practice (Biostochastics) focuses on companies requiring deep biological understanding coupled with rigorous computational methodology and ability to clearly translate complex findings into actionable insights for a diverse set of stakeholders.

Feel free to check out my resume or reach out by e-mail.

I am particularly interested in partnerships that leverage multi-omic approaches to address unmet medical needs in neurodegeneration and precision medicine.

Companies I worked with: Bryleos, ALS Therapy Development Institute, Thorne HealthTech, Roche Genentech, Gilead Biosciences, iCarbonX US, Finasteride Association, BioAnalytica, and MindTrust. At Arivale, I developed statistical frameworks for direct-to-consumer genetic testing during the early days of precision wellness.

Emergent Ableism

My early research on neurodivergence extends today to examining algorithmic bias in society broadly and in precision medicine specifically. I am interested in what I call "emergent ableism" - how machine learning systems create discrimination cascades affecting neurodivergent populations. This work ensures that computational approaches to personalized medicine maintain equity across diverse patient populations.

Early Career

My early career focused on measurement and individual differences in human cognitive and personality traits. I have (co)-developed the first psychometric tests of spoken Russian and Arabic development for adults and children, respectively.

My interest in individual differences and neurodivergence ultimately led to my pursuing hybrid training at UConn (Go Huskies!), Yale, and Haskins Labs that brought together behavior, brain, and genetic data for a cross-disciplinary study of developmental language disorders.

One of the key outcomes of this research was the discovery of the role of a gene called SETBP1 in developmental language disorders; a finding since robustly replicated by multiple groups. This work also received an award from Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD).

P.S.

I agree with Dr. Avi Loeb: "Science is an expression of love for the Universe". Life sciences are an expression of love for life. Translational science is an expression of love for humanity.
